Some Singing, Some Color, Some Early Experiments
Preceded by Gaumont newsreels, pre-1910. As early as 1905, Alice Guy explored the possibilities of the "Phonosc?ne," a process in which sound was recorded on a wax disk and synchronized with the projected moving image. (An early advocate of talking pictures, Gaumont developed the Chronophone.) Three 3-minute "Phonosc?nes" attributed to Guy are featured. Another rarity is a documentary of the Deauville seaside filmed in the Trichrome process which anticipated the development of Technicolor. Also, A Day in the Life of a Pair of Legs of a lazy workman, and a short comedy of unrequited love, Feet and Hands.
