Dariush Farhang is a respected stage and cinema actor (featured with his actress wife Taslimi in Maybe Some Other Time, see December 2), as well as a theater director and screenwriter. Skillfully using the conventions of the old dark house tale, Farhang makes his story particularly relevant to male-female relationships in contemporary Iran, although he sets it during the decline of the Quajar dynasty.
