Stranger at My Door
"William Witney, Republic's serial, fast-action and western maestro, here directs the studio's own equivalent of Jacques Tourneur's Stars in My Crown, 'western' in framework and locale, but essentially a story of faith and regeneration. Everson presented a tribute to William Witney at the Cinematheque Française, with Mr. Witney in person. The program was entitled "William Witney: Action!" and showed that, apart from being the King of the Serials, Witney is a master of action in any genre from westerns to science fiction, gangster and war films.
