Strangler of the Swamp

"When PRC, producer of such 'B' schlock horrors as The Devil Bat and The Mad Monster, signed Wisbar for a brace of horror films, they expected more of the same. What they got here, probably to their dismay, was a fairly close remake of Fahrman Maria, moody and romantic rather than chilling, and an incredible achievement for a film made in a week for about $20,000. Most of the money probably went on the one master set which is cunningly used to appear far more spacious than it was. Rosemary LaPlanche, bathing beauty contest winner, never quite made it to the Esther Williams level and leading-man Blake Edwards did rather better later as the director who married Julie Andrews, but Charles Middleton is in his element as the ghost of the unjustly hanged who returns to the swamp ferry seeking revenge."
