Sunny Side of Life
The Original Carter Family of southwestern Virginia--A.P. and Sara Carter, together with their cousin Maybelle--influenced the development of old-time country music perhaps more than anyone else. But the Carter Family legacy was all but gone from the valley until the next generation, Joe Carter and his sister Janette, turned the old Carter Store in Maces Spring, Virginia into the music hall known as The Carter Family Fold, now a center and catalyst for Appalachian folk culture. Regional bands and individual artists join yarn spinners and joke tellers to make The Carter Family Fold the place to be, every Saturday night. Sunny Side of Life is a celebration of this lively mountain music and the people who make it.
