Sweet Degeneration tells of a brother and sister, separated by the pursuits of adult life in Taipei, who, unbeknownst to each other, long for one another and the tender feelings of bygone times. Ju-feng designs wedding dresses and spends her spare time lost in dreamy regret over a failed marriage. She awaits her younger brother Chun-sheng on his release from military service, but he has made his own foray into Taipei, drifting from hotel to hotel, prostitute to prostitute, with dreams of becoming a saxophone player.
