Tall Timbers 1
(Also known for U.S. release as Timberland Terror.) "Australia's most prolific director, Ken G. Hall, frequently made action films and 'local' westerns very much in the Hollywood manner--though, since they could expect top-of-the-bill playdates at home, often padded by involved subplots. For U.S. release they were invariably trimmed a little, quickening the pace and possibly making them seem a little less old fashioned because of the reduced stress on secondary themes of regeneration, long-lost sons, and so forth. This American-release version of a typical equivalent of a Hollywood Jack Holt melodrama has lost considerable footage, but it hardly shows. The action scenes remain, helped by ingenious if not totally convincing miniatures, and the 'Taming of the Shrew' subplot involves, in her first film, Shirley Ann Richards, who achieved Hollywood stardom in the forties."
