Tasio

“Reminiscent of the work of French director Georges Rouquier (Farrebique/Biquefarre) in its sensitive depiction of the contours and rhythms of peasant life, Tasio chronicles the life of a man from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. Growing up largely by himself in an isolated backwoods community, he tries to maintain his own very personal lifestyle, avoiding the pressures from the outside world to conform. Tasio comes to represent the rebirth of the Basque nation, slowly emerging as it regains its self-assurance. The film was produced by the internationally acclaimed Elias Querejate.” Richard Peña, The Film Center
