A Taxi for Three

A black comic Odyssey with a bit of Patty Hearst thrown in, this tale begins with a chance encounter between one ill–fated cab driver, Ulises, and two petty thieves. Offered the choice of being either their victim or their accomplice, Ulises embraces the promise of easy money and delicious risk. Morality is elastic and survival instincts rule in this finely textured fable of greed and corruption, a sly metaphor for post–Pinochet Chile (where it was a big hit despite its ultra–low budget). Best Film, San Sebastian Film Festival.
