Tea Time Thursday: Studio Visit with Guest Artist David Wilson
Open to Curator’s Circle members at the $1,000 level and above
Join us for Extending Invitations: Studio Visit with Guest Artist David Wilson, where he will share a range of print projects and explain how he has translated his tradition of creating print invitations, maps, flyers, and mail art into his current work organizing the BAMPFA Fisher Family Art Lab. Wilson will talk about how his unique role as an artist within the museum evolved from collaborations with former BAMPFA Director Lawrence Rinder and Wilson’s own sprawling curatorial effort, the exhibition The Possible.
Oakland-based artist David Wilson creates observational drawings rooted in direct experiences with landscape, and orchestrates site-based gatherings that draw together a wide range of artists, performers, filmmakers, chefs, and artisans into collaborative relationships. He received the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s 2012 SECA Art Award and curated the experimental exhibition The Possible at BAMPFA in 2014. Wilson organizes a diverse array of public programs and projects in his current role as a BAMPFA guest artist.
