Teddy Bears in Shorts

A hit at last year's Teddy Bear Film Festival, Ludovic the bear returns in another magical story called Ludovic: A Crocodile in My Garden (Canada, 2000, 10 mins). Playing with his menagerie of paper animals, Ludovic creates a make-believe African jungle in his backyard but finds his little animal friends aren't as easy to control as he thought. Based on the classic book by Don Freeman, A Pocket for Corduroy (U.S., 1986, 20 mins) follows the adventures of a teddy bear whose visit to the laundromat becomes a humorous tale of lost and found. Old teddy bears, worn out and in need of repair, are stored in the attic in Waiting Teddy Bears (Sweden, 1999, 20 mins, In Swedish with English subtitles read aloud). But these energetic and multitalented stuffed animals find many ways to entertain themselves, including singing and dancing to Elvis Presley and Gilbert and Sullivan and recounting the actual history of their very special breed of toy.
