Tell Them Not to Kill Me (Diles que No Me Maten)
Admission $2.50
“The title refers to one of the stories published in 1953 in the book El Llano en Llamas (The Land in Flames) by the famous Mexican writer Juan Rulfo. The film abounds in evocative images of hopelessness, dreams and mysticism on a landscape parched dry by the sun; and of men whose souls have long been dried up by ages of injustice. Its protagonist, Juvencio, survives after having killed the godfather of his child, but 35 years later the phantom of his guilt and the godfather's son catch up with him. Coming out of the University of Merida, long distinguished by a strong film movement, Tell Them Not to Kill Me is a film universal to Latin America in its theme and strong visuals, and a natural Festival choice representing Venezuela.” Denis W.
