Tempest plus Russian Ideas in Clothes!

Tempest
Not to be confused with Shakespeare's play, Tempest is set during the Russian Revolution. John Barrymore is featured as a dashing sergeant in the Russian Imperial Army who is reluctantly commissioned an officer on the eve of the Revolution. Not to be taken seriously as history, Tempest is thoroughly enjoyable as spectacle romance, for the stunning cinematography of Charles Rosher, and for John Barrymore's performance in what is considered to be his best silent film.
UCLA Film Archivist Bob Gitt has recently restored the Vitaphone score and sound effects to all but one or two reels of Tempest. This will thus be the premiere showing of the film in a sound version.
