Tempus de Baristas
Pietro is seventeen, the son of a goatherd in the rugged mountains of eastern Sardinia. He loyally helps his father, but like other Sardinian teenagers he goes to school, wears jeans and T-shirts, and meets friends at night in the village square. Between Pietro and his father is a loving but sometimes thorny relationship as Pietro tests the independence that both of them want for him. In the background is their friend Miminu, a goatherd now in his forties who has lost much of his own independence as traditional herding has become increasingly marginalized. Although born only about twenty years apart, each of these men has grown up in a different world. By award-winning filmmaker David MacDougall, this visually beautiful film offers some of the intimacy and complexity of a contemporary novel-a quality rarely seen in today's documentaries.
