For Them That Trespass
"Alberto Cavalcanti, Britain's only film noir specialist (though Robert Hamer might be given honorable mention) here takes the kind of material that the normally conservative Associated British company would probably have preferred as a genteel soap opera, and turns it into a thoroughly black tale of injustice and revenge, ultra-stylish in its design, camerawork, and, of course, direction.
