The Crime Doesn't Pay series was a showcase for emerging directors including Fred Zinnemann, Jacques Tourneur and Elia Kazan, a testing ground for new stars-and a good series in its own right. They're Always Caught, nominated for an Academy Award, follows essentially the same plot as The Kid Glove Killer, writ small.
