Three Short Films by Lindsay Anderson (Free Screening!)

A trio of brief, poetic documentaries by Lindsay Anderson, who later went on to direct such key New Wave features as This Sporting Life and If . . . . The Academy Award–winning Thursday's Children offers a compassionate view of the Royal School for the Deaf, with commentary read by Richard Burton. O Dreamland, shot around the same time, is considerably more sardonic in its examination of a seedy funfair. Produced by Karel Reisz, Every Day Except Christmas captures the activity of the Covent Garden market in London. Anderson described it as part of an effort to “make people-ordinary people, not just Top People-feel their dignity and their importance, so that they can act from these principles.”
