Tonight's program explores the ways in which the people we love serve as mirrors, allowing us to see and transform ourselves. 14 Reasons Why I Gallop in the August Rain (Korina Jocson, 5 mins) is a poetic homage to writer and UC Berkeley professor June Jordan, whose work and friendship inspired many. We Got Next (Tricia Creason Valencia, 16 mins) highlights the importance of support on and off the court for two teenage basketball players going through a time of change. tough girl (Leilani T. Abad, 13 mins, 16mm) tells the story of one woman's struggle with self-imposed emotional isolation. Adrift in the Heartland (Brigid Maher, U.S./Palestine, 70 mins) is a portrait of two women, one African American, one Palestinian, whose mutual love of jazz music provides a foundation for a friendship that transcends stereotypes.
