A Throw of Dice

Taking its inspiration from the epic “Mahabharata” - in which the Pandavas lose their kingdom to their opponents, the Kauravas, in a chess game - A Throw of Dice weaves its tale of treachery among leaders of ruling kingdoms around the gambling habit of its hero. Himansu Rai, featured as the Prince Gautama in Light of Asia, and as Shiraz, here takes the role of the villainous King Sohat. Sita Devi, the Anglo-Indian actress seen in both of the other silents, is here cast as Sunita, the daughter of a forest hermit, and the true love of the good King Ranjit (Charu Roy).
