A Tribute to The Cotton Club

Jazz film archivist Mark Cantor will recreate the music, song, dance and ambiance of Harlem's famed Cotton Club--with the help of some very rare 16mm sound films! The program includes film clips from many different sources, featuring the orchestras of Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong; the dancing talents of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, The Berry Brothers and The Nicholas Brothers; the song stylings of Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday and Lena Horne, as well as the many novelty acts, musical performances and chorus-line productions that made The Cotton Club famous throughout the world.
