The Truman Show

As meta as it gets, The Truman Show stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank “as himself,” the unwitting lead in a TV drama exactly contiguous with his own life. Everything in Truman's ultra-safe, ever-sunny hometown of Seahaven, from his white picket fence to his perfect blonde wife (Laura Linney), is arranged for the cameras that have been following him since birth-a fact of which only Truman is unaware. A series of cracks in the fictional façade eventually awakens Truman to the possibility that there may be something sinister about this suburban paradise. But the “reality” just beyond the walls of Truman's world is . . . Hollywood. Although the TV show's Seahaven is part of the world's biggest indoor studio, The Truman Show, the movie, was actually shot on location in the planned community of Seaside, Florida-proof, perhaps, that real estate is stranger than fiction.
