Based on a novel by Ramadhan K.H., The Turmoil of Life portrays the disasters that befall Abdulrachman--an honest, hardworking government worker and a loving family man--when he retires from government service. Personal, social, and economic pressures threaten to break up the family of this Indonesian "Job" as he struggles to make ends meet on his tiny pension.
