Way Bay: Guided Tour with American Sign Language Interpretation

Join ASL interpreter Patricia Lessard and UC Berkeley art history graduate student tour guide Alexandra Courtois for an exploration of this innovative and immersive major exhibition.

Open-ended and provocative, Way Bay draws upon two hundred years of Bay Area art and film from the museum’s collection to reveal hidden currents and connections among works from disparate times, cultures, and communities. You will encounter continuous film screenings in the galleries amid paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs by renowned Bay Area figures such as Joan Brown, Richard Diebenkorn, and Chiura Obata, as well as many artists whose work may be new to you. You'll also experience the work of Bay Area poets, presented in an original, interactive postcard project.

We invite you to discover the breadth and depth of Bay Area creativity!
