The Wedding of Palo (Palos Brudefaerd).
"The work of Dr. Knud Rasmussen, the prominent Danish explorer and anthropologist, The Wedding of Palo is an affectionate account of Eskimo life, played out by natives of the Angmagssalik district of eastern Greenland...The film is an obvious successor to Nanook of the North (1922) and embraces Flaherty's model, yet it provides even more spectacular, polished views of the arctic regions...As sympathetic to its subjects as Flaherty's film, it also invents a plot-line for them...follow(ing) the rivalry between Palo and Samo for Navarana, and her growing affection for Palo in the face of her brothers' opposition to giving up their only cook and housekeeper. In addition to this rather winning tale, the film raises a number of interesting cross-cultural issues in its portrayal of the life of these people." -The Museum of Modern Art
