The Whirlwind of Paris

Lil Dagover, a star of German Expressionist cinema, plays an opera singer who becomes restless in her marriage to an older Scottish lord, and longs to return to the limelight of the Parisian stage. The film's psychological realism is heightened by Duvivier's innovative use of double exposure to convey the tension between inner thought and outward appearance.
