Whores' Glory

In his most recent film, Glawogger examines one of the oldest trades, sex work, focusing on three brothels. In Bangkok, women sit behind glass; in Bangladesh, they live in a sprawling compound; and in Mexico, along a desolate road. While a woman's daily experience may depend on who shows up with cash, for Glawogger, prostitution is also a window into the way women and men interact in their varying cultures. Combining observational footage and interviews, Glawogger's film is compassionate, powerful, and nonjudgmental, yet it is also divisive, in part due to a graphic sex scene.
