Works from the Eisner Prize Competition
The Eisner Prize is the highest award for creativity given on the UC Berkeley campus. This program presents works by this year's two winners in film and video, Sophie Cooper and Wenhua Shi, along with a diverse sampling of videos from the competition. Sophie Cooper will present an experimental narrative exploring life transitions, Water Moon, and Not Drawn to Scale, a video project using images from blogs by American soldiers in Iraq. Wenhua Shi will screen Crimson Haze, a meditation on decaying film, and My Companions, an animation inspired by imaginary graffiti. A program containing written descriptions by the artists will complement the screening. This year's judges were UC staff and faculty Mark Berger, Marilyn Fabe, Kathy Geritz, Mira Kopell, and Jeffrey Skoller.
