The World of Tomorrow

Poised precariously between the Great Depression and World War II, the 1939 New York World's Fair, dedicated to "The World of Tomorrow," was a moment given to naive optimism. Directors Tom Johnson and Lance Bird have put together promotional films, cartoons, newsreels, home movies, and the first television broadcast (featuring FDR) pertaining to the Fair, to elucidate an American eccentricism in which the future was sure to be a utopian Futurama.
