The Yearling
In post-Civil War America, a rebel soldier and his wife become pioneer farmers in Florida. When their 11-year-old son Jody befriends a young deer and falls in love with his new pet, the stage is set for one of the most heartwarming classics of our time. Starring Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman, and a young Claude Jarman, the film was nominated for seven Oscars (including Best Picture), winning two awards for its stunning Technicolor cinematography and art direction. This beautifully acted family film is a sensitive and timeless exploration of a child's journey to maturity that may require a Kleenex or two.
