BAM/PFA is proud to introduce an ongoing series that gives audiences a rare chance to hear from-and meet-those “behind the scenes,” the cinematographers, producers, editors, designers, and others who collectively bring the “directorial vision” to the screen. Each season we'll feature a guest from a different craft; through first-hand, anecdotal, and critical discussions with these talented artists, Behind the Scenes will make clearer the vast cooperative effort that is cinema.
This September's guest is the producer Sid Ganis, former President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Having produced or greenlighted many major motion pictures over the last three decades, Mr. Ganis intimately knows the fluid process that results in a feature length film. Along with his partner Nancy Hult Ganis (herself a successful producer and entertainment executive), Ganis will talk about the integral role of the producer, his or her creative and financial responsibilities, and the areas in which the producer directly influences the final aesthetic outcome.
