What's Up, Tiger Lily?

“Woody Allen has taken a Japanese James Bond-type thriller (one of a hundred with dapper men in Western dress lured by sensuous women apparently in distress but of course in league with the enemy), carefully re-edited and added his own soundtrack. So the Japanese actors are now speaking English with Brooklyn accents, and the tension revolves around an elaborate search for a dynamite egg salad recipe. Hilariously edited to magnify and spoof details of movement, the film turns the Japanese (not to mention the western) spy film on its head, in which position it turns out to be great and crazy comedy.”
