“An ominous spaceship lands in Washington, D.C., carrying an ultra-civilized extra-terrestrial emissary and an eight-foot-tall robot. When some soldiers panic and shoot the intergalactic diplomat, the robot takes over guard duties while the diplomat (who heals quick) roams around checking things out. A highly moralistic film (whose point of view - that political leaders are f___ed - can hardly be argued with), there are plenty of thrills and chills besides.... Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal turn in excellent performances....”
