Blue Collar

Blue Collar marked the directorial debut of Paul Schrader, film critic and scriptwriter (Taxi Driver, Obsession). A lively amalgam of comedy, thriller, and political exposé, Blue Collar is a film about life on the inside and on the outside of the Detroit auto plants. Three auto workers - Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kotto - set about robbing the union treasury and in the process discover evidence of illegal union dealings: grounds for blackmail, with a potential take far greater than the $600 they have found in the cash box. Their plot stirs up more political dust than they or their families can contend with.
