The Man Who Could Not See Far Enough and Short Films
Peter Rose's latest film begins with a wonderfully entertaining narrative which captures the essence of storytelling, but in a totally invented language - a kind of epic esperanto related in continuous titles below the image. Another highlight of this many-faceted film is Rose's walk along the suspension cables of the Golden Gate Bridge - a physical feat which Rose turns into an equally magnificent feat of filmmaking. In lieu of the usual question-and-answer period, Rose's in-person presentation is a performance piece which plays off the invented language of the film's first part.
