Program I
Max Almy's Perfect Leader (5 mins) is an evocative demonstration through high-tech video of our vulnerability to the public relations machinations of prospective political candidates. Strange Occurrences (15 mins) explores the unique design of “light forms” as developed by abstract video pioneer Willard Rosenquist. Sonya Rapoport's Biorhythms (7 mins) documents an audience participation art event at the WORKS Gallery which interfaces biofeedback with the creation of new genres of art. Whispers in a Plane of Light (10 mins) is a sophisticated computer art tape by Joanne Gillerman that demonstrates the possibilities of linking the manipulation of audio and video technology. Emergency Exit (6 mins) by Nina Wise, Loren Elder and Joanne Kelly is a visual poem based on the theater piece Miracle Mile, about a woman's need to improve the confining conditions of her life. Megan Roberts' and Raymond Ghirardo's New Pygmatic Functions for All TV Orchestra (4 mins) frames and reframes through heightened editing the musicality of this unique “TV orchestra.” Jim Morris' Rehearsal (28 mins) looks at what it takes for a local rock band to “make it” professionally; the band The Lloyds are remarkably perceptive and honest in this moving personal portrait.
