Script
: "Baldessari (asked) seven couples (to stage) ten scenes from commercial films like Sunset Boulevard...working with only a few words of dialogue and occasional instructions about camera set-ups.... Baldessari took the results of their labors and composed Script, making the similarities and differences of the seven independently developed responses to ambiguous texts the subject of the film.... The basic premise behind Script is that meaning requires a context from which to emerge.... The ambiguity of the word out of context supplies an intermittent source of pleasure in Script; each shift in meaning is experienced with the force of a joke as it subverts a previous meaning."
