Le Faro da Padre (I'll Take Her Like a Father)

"Alberto Lattuada (Mafioso)...is a strong visual stylist.... (He) is also one of the masters of sexuality on the screen, giving it its due as a profound part of human existence, without moralizing or lasciviousness, (as in his) marvelous tale of a whore on vacation, La Spiaggia/The Beach (PFA, June '86)" (Elliott Stein, Village Voice). Le Faro da Padre is a cynically satirical portrait of sexual conquest in which an ambitious lawyer, Mazzacolli (Luigi Proietti), desiring to make a killing in provincial real estate, allows himself to be seduced by a countess (Irene Papas) who has both the money and the land he wants. When she demands her share of the profits, Mazzacolli threatens to marry her mentally retarded teenage daughter Clotilde (Teresa Ann Savoy), a young beauty who blissfully wears her sexuality on the outside. But thoughts of blackmail subside as the emotionally childish man finds he has at last met his mate.
