A cross between Diva and Pierrot le fou, but shot in a low-budget black-and-white befitting Berlin, this is a lively feature put together by and starring two youthful eccentrics, Anja Franke and Dani Levy. They play lovers-Julia, a sax player, and Romeo, a guitarist-whose once jazz-hot affair is cooling considerably. When an aborted visit to a brothel leads Romeo into a bizarre murder plot, danger draws the lovers back together. Feeling lost, exposed in their own town, with ominous gangsters in hot pursuit, in their roamings they encounter some of Berlin's more wonderfully peculiar oddball types. A humorous thriller, and in the end, a poetic love story that, like Pierrot, dreams its way to the sea.
