Minnelli, whom Dorsky calls "a cinema-sculptor: tableau, color and detail of surface are his love," is ideally suited to filming "the drama of possessions" of which Lawrence Alloway wrote. But laden with all manner of creature comforts, the trailer tilts dangerously toward the abyss.
