Judy Garlandand Mickey Rooney are at the center of this delightful musical, based onthe George and Ira Gershwin Broadway success of the 1930s and full oflovely standards including "Fascinating Rhythm," "Bidin'My Time," "Embraceable You" and "But Not forMe." The story finds philandering Eastern scion Rooney sent outWest for his own good, to an all-boys school isolated amid the cacti,broncos and, as it turns out, cowgirls. Busby Berkeley directed thefilm's now-famous finale, "I Got Rhythm," a frenetic rodeocreation complete with whips and boots, and set to the brass of TommyDorsey's band.
