Introduced by Guido FinkSingle admission price for 3:30 lecture and 5:30 film. (Jona che visse nella balena). This Italian co-production, based on Dutch physicist Jonah Oberski's account of his childhood years, focuses on a child's hardship in the Holocaust, both during the build-up of Nazism and in the concentration camps. Four-year-old Jonah witnesses the increasing humiliations of his family as anti-Semitism takes hold in Amsterdam in 1943; still believing themselves to be relocating to Palestine, mother and son are sent to one concentration camp, father to another. Jonah (played as an older lad by Jenner Del Vecchio) spends years in the dehumanized world of the camps where he watches his father succumb to illness, his mother to madness.
