Numéros Zéro

Shot in the newsroom of the French daily Le Matin de Paris, then in its nascent stage,Numéros Zéro looks at the work of "shaping" informationat a newsdesk and shaping the editorial policy of a journal, something that hasan ambiguous and complex relationship with the daily news. "One is surprisedthat a simple reporter's movie grasps so many secrets and unveils so manymysteries, and that the protagonists have so willingly allowed themselves to be'captured' by the camera. (But) one forgets that, in fact, this is a film whosesequences have been chosen, selected (more or less prepared) and, above all, edited. (Phrases like) 'camera on the shoulder,' 'invisible reporter' add to ourconfusion°.Numéros Zéro has a particularly relevant content: a filmabout a daily newspaper, a document on the press, it is, first and foremost, afilm about power."
