Japan Organized Crime Boss
A powerhouse cast, literally a who's who of tough-guy yakuza icons, rolls through this classic gang war tale of treachery, violence, and the changing dynamics between "good" businessmen, "official" politicians, and the gangs that do the dirty work for them. Just out of jail, an ex-crime boss discovers that times have indeed changed in Japan; age-old codes of honor and conduct have been thrown aside by a new breed of thugged-out punks. Even worse, some of them have started dabbling in politics. The mean streets of Yokohama soon become a battleground as he attempts to regain his authority during a vicious power struggle between a Tokyo gang and an Osaka group. Koji Tsuruta, Toei studio's dominant yakuza star, plays the lead, wonderfully backed by the cult figures of Bunta Sugawara, Tomisaburo Wakayama, and real-life yakuza-turned-actor Noboru Ando. (JS)
