Behind Closed Eyes

"When I close my eyes, I think of all the bad things..." repeat the children in this far–reaching documentary on war and its destruction of not only a child's present, but also his or her future. In Liberia Spencer was just one of many kids with guns, drafted into grotesque child armies known for their brutality; now he, and his generation, must try to reconcile with their families, their townsfolk, and most of all, themselves. In Macedonia children learn to survive in burning villages, squalid refugee camps, or foreign shelters, while in Cambodia land–mine victims-missing arms, legs, or sight-learn to work for themselves. Meanwhile, in Rwanda a child learns she is pregnant with her rapist's baby. Four countries, four courageous stories, Behind Closed Eyes finally opens them.
