Thundercrack
A blue movie shot in glorious black and white, Thundercrack begins with a classic setup, the old dark house on a rainy night, but the only scary things here are the blowup dolls, the oversized vibrators, and a circus gorilla called Medusa. Seven wayward strangers find themselves at the doorstep of Prairie Blossom, a manse managed by a deranged Blanche Dubois knockoff named Gert Hammond (Marion Eaton, the cuke queen of California). Gert likes to watch, and from her strategically poked peephole she gets much more than an eyeful. As the storm outside rages, the well–greased guests seek shelter in every passing orifice. Known for his luxuriant but lustful shorts, Curt McDowell in this feature presides over the bacchanalia with a satyric eye, turning the concupiscent couplings into comic commentary. The proceedings are further fleshed out by George Kuchar, the screenplay's purple prosemeister, who declares "I...I...I made Medusa dirty." Thundercrack cracks wise throughout its porn–again revelations.
