Lamelas' The Hand (1977, 35 mins, color) and The Dictator (1977, 15 mins, color) deal with political thought and fact and their identification through the framing of expression and action. The ambiguous politics of the rock star being interviewed in The Hand and the politician in The Dictator are implicit in the structure and content of the typical news talk show interview by TV anchorwoman Barbara Lopez, who brings her guests to the edge of their public personas. The Desert People (1974, 50 mins, color, 16mm film) “offers more than its fair share of insights into an alien culture and the particular breed of person who would penetrate such a culture in search of self-knowledge.”
