Emerge: New Work by University of California at Berkeley Master of Fine Arts Graduates is a diverse and provocative exhibition of contemporary art. The exhibition has the dual role of providing the graduating students of the Art Practice Department with the experience of participating in a museum show, and exposing the community to the work of some of the most exciting and promising new artists in the Bay Area. The six artists featured in this exhibition-Nina Lynn Bellisio, Jason Byers, Sook Im Choi, Elizabeth Demaray, Stephanie Anne Johnson, and Katherine Shozawa-work in a range of media: photography, painting, sound, installation, assemblage, and large-scale constructions. Emerge, on view in the Koshland Gallery (Gallery 3), is the culmination of their Master of Fine Arts program.
