He is seen at the computer, devising algorithms then punched onto computer cards. The computer reads the computer cards, creating abstract motion graphics on a screen which are filmed on black and white film stock. Whitney then optically prints that film onto color stock. Whitney also discusses the relationship between music--an abstract form of expression--and his method of creating motion graphics. As he discusses his work, examples are seen on the screen.
