520 The March of Time's first full-length film was designed to
explain how the U.S. went to war in 1917, to justify U.S.
participation in World War I and to encourage U.S.
involvement in World War II. The overall complacency and
reluctance of the U.S. to involve itself in World War I is
telescoped into a small New England town and events are
depicted which contributed eventually to total commitment.
Dierctor Louis De Rochemont interweaves documentary
footage with dramatic sequences played by non-actors.
521 Junior high through adult.
