Film Series/Exhibition Title:
Wim Wenders: Portraits Along the Road
Description:

Heavily cut for its original release, Wenders’s wildly ambitious globe-trotting science-fiction epic—filmed across nine countries and four continents—is presented here in its original director’s cut. A free-spirited Frenchwoman (Solveig Dommartin, Wings of Desire) meets an American scientist (William Hurt) who has invented a machine that allows the blind to see, and for dreams to possibly be recorded; soon they are on the run from bank robbers, CIA agents, and more. Australian novelist Peter Carey cowrote the script, while Jeanne Moreau, Chishu Ryu, Rüdiger Vogler, Max von Sydow, Sam Neill, Tom Waits, and fado legend Amália Rodrigues contribute to a jaw-dropping cast.
